Valeriu Culea musical background is quite unexpected for a jazz pianist.

He has studied acordeon and folk music, but started exploring jazz at the same time, on his own. After spending time practicing and studying he began getting his own ideas and started applying them in the different jazz sessions and jams going on at the time.

Starting in the 2000's he initiated his own projects within local jazz clubs, such as "Humpty Dumpty" Project, "Africa Project".

In 2007 he wrote "Maria's Name Colour" and a whole new world of Jazz opened up to him. It is then when he decided that one day he will start an International Jazz Festival that will reflect his ideas and visions.

In 2009, while in France, he wrote "A Wave from Deep Inside", that later on is appreciated by American jazzmen do to its profound musicality.

In 2012 he continues with projects such as "Monk's Moods", "Jazz &Painting" and "Me with Myself".

In 2014 he starts the "Jazz'n Chisinau" Concept which has as purpose its development into a festival. Currently, it is indeed, an International Festival that stands at its 6 edition and collaborates with valuable international musicians
